Urgent New: Games Shop Has Been Sold
AVGaS Policy moondragon writes
People,

last Tuesday, 9 June 2009, I was informed that Dan Steel had sold the Games Shop and that the new owner would be taking over in early July. I informed the rest of the committee immediately and we attempted to gather further information. On Thursday, 11 June 2009, I was contacted by the new owner Mr. Rhys Knight. His email message read:

My name is Rhys Knight, and myself and my wife Hilary will be purchasing the Games Shop in Aldershot at the end of June 2009.

Mike has forwarded me your email, so we can arrange a meeting regarding AVGAS and the Games Shop.

Firstly I would like to say that the basic running of the shop will not be changing, we will still be carrying the same stock lines and and gaming. You may find some new products in the shop, but these are to encourage new trade and not put off existing buyers and gamers.

I am very keen to discuss the gaming side and AVGAS with you, so we can get everything in place for when we take over.

I look forward to hearing from you and meeting you.

The committee arranged to meet with him this sunday at the Games Shop. We had a frank discussion with him. He is an ex-Games Workshop employee and has been working at Esdevium Games. He is a long time gamer himself. After talking with him the committee feels that this change in ownership will be a positive move for AVGAS. Many of the problems we are having with the Games Shop should be resolved by this change in management. The committee will be calling an Emergency General Meeting (EGM) around mid July to place all the information before the members.

Please note that the change in management has caused a number of the staff at the Games Shop to leave. This is likely to impact on the AVGAS session hours. I believe that this Tuesday will be 08:00 to 10:30 and next Sunday will be 14:00 to 18:00. The committee apologies for the problems this is causing you and ask that you are patience until the new management take over.

AVGAS Secretary
